What to expect
We take our time, because the match matters.
Our recruitment process is thorough. We're not simply deciding whether someone can do support work. We're looking for people who can provide safe, consistent and reliable support, and who may be right for a particular participant, their home, roster and team.
But the decision is not ours alone. We see recruitment as the beginning of a working partnership. You need time to understand Sanctuary, the position, the roster and what the work asks of you, so you can decide whether it feels right.

Our process
Eight stages, and both of us are deciding.
Each stage gives both sides the opportunity to ask questions and decide whether to continue.
01
Initial application
Start by completing our short application and uploading your current resume. This gives us enough information to review your experience and the position you're interested in.
02
Initial screening
We review each application against the requirements of the position, the roster and the qualities we look for. If we think there may be a fit, we'll invite you to complete the next stage.
03
Detailed Candidate Application
Shortlisted candidates receive a private link to our detailed Candidate Application. It asks more about your availability, work history and eligibility, as well as how you understand behaviour, hold boundaries, communicate with others and respond when the work becomes difficult.
04
Phone interview
If your detailed application progresses, we'll arrange a phone interview. This is a chance to talk more about the position, the roster, your experience and what working with Sanctuary involves.
05
Face-to-face interview
Candidates who continue are invited to a face-to-face interview. Sometimes a participant may be involved, depending on their preferences, communication and circumstances. We'll let you know beforehand if this forms part of your interview.
06
Screening, referees and matching
After the interviews, we complete relevant screening and professional referee checks. Placement matching happens throughout the recruitment process, not only at the end. We consider how a candidate may fit with a particular participant, home, roster and existing team.
07
Final compliance and offer
Preferred candidates complete any remaining pre-employment checks and compliance requirements. Once these requirements have been met, successful candidates receive a written letter of offer.
08
Induction week
After the offer is accepted, we book your induction week. Induction usually runs across one week and includes a mix of online learning, time in the office and supported learning within the participant's home.
Ready when you are
I'm ready to start my application.
The first step is short. Tell us a little about yourself, the position you're interested in, and attach your current resume.
